Session Description:

The VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) business environment is having a dramatic impact on the world of work. Attendees will learn to recognize how value is created through HR and leverage HR to execute business strategy in our ever-changing field.

I will utilize organizational experiences as the foundation for identifying relevant issues and applying business lessons to gain greater insight into strategic and systemic leadership of the people function in organizations.

This is all done by communicating leadership objectives, influence tactics and negotiation strategies to gain a competitive advantage persuasively and effectively.

The changes in the way work will be accomplished place a great demand on HR professionals to develop and sustain the organization's agility necessary to survive and thrive in a world of ongoing turbulence.

Speaker Bio:

Undergrad in I/O Psych from BGSU, MBA and Ph.D. in HRD from the University of Toledo, where she taught for 19 years.

Currently the HR Director - Grain Group at The Andersons, Inc. Taught undergraduate through Ph.D. level HR courses at many local colleges and currently focuses her time to teaching at Lourdes University. Prior to The Andersons, Sheri worked at Medical Mutual, UT Physicians, Hickory Farms, the Toledo Zoo, Staples and Key Bank.

2016 Chair for the Ohio HR Conference (OHRC.
2005 Past President of TAHRA (now called NOHRA), and currently on the Program Committee for THRAC.

Board member of the EA and a former member of the HR Committee for the American Red Cross.
Inducted in to the Cardinal Stritch High School Hall of Fame, received the 20 Under 40 Leadership Award in 2004 and the Alumni Community Award from BGSU in 2006.

Published various articles and is the co-author of a SHRM best-selling book Got A Minute? The 9 Lessons Every HR Professional Must Learn to be Successful with Dr. Dale Dwyer and Got A Solution - HR Approaches to 5 Common and Persistent Business Problems.

Sheri has her SHRM-SP and SPHR certifications, became a Certified Internet Recruiter and got certified in EQ-I and EQ-360 for Emotional Intelligence, also the subject of her first book, Developing Emotional Intelligence In Others with Dr. Linda Gravett. Sheri's most recent book, also with Dr. Gravett, was released in 2016 titled Learning Agility: The Impact on Recruitment and Retention.
