Session Description:
Cultivating influence is essential to a being viewed as an effective leader – formal or informal – and is an important key to getting opportunities to have a strategic impact within your organization. Influence begins with establishing credibility and building effective relationships. People who are able to influence others – even without formal authority – are in a unique position to distinguish themselves as strategic-minded professionals, and they can have a real impact on organizational decision making.
Speaker Bio:
Mary holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in Communication. Her certifications include Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Everything DiSC Certified Trainer/Accredited Workplace Facilitator, The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team Authorized Partner, and PXT Select Certified Professional. Mary’s professional background includes extensive experience in management, HR, instructional design and communication. She is a frequent keynote speaker at conferences and association meetings nationwide, and she works with clients throughout the U.S.
She has presented at the national SHRM Talent Management Conference, a number of chapter and state council meetings and conferences, and events for a number of other associations. She has served in a number of volunteer leadership roles with the Mobile, AL SHRM chapter and Alabama SHRM state council, and is now a member of both Mobile SHRM and Chattanooga SHRM. She has taught SHRM-CP and SCP certification prep courses since the program was introduced, and currently teaches the course online. She also taught PHR/SPHR prep courses for many years.
